What is Cane Work?

Cane work in India is a traditional craft that uses natural rattan and cane fibres to create lightweight, woven furniture and architectural elements. Materials & Technical Process

The process begins with harvesting and preparing cane fibres, which are soaked, shaped and sometimes steamed to increase flexibility. Artisans then hand-weave or bend the cane around wooden or metal frames to create structural and decorative forms.

This combination of material knowledge and manual shaping defines the strength, comfort and visual character of the finished piece.
